Work is getting in the Way

You ever have weeks when work gets in the way of your fun hobby time?  Well that was my week.  Very busy, long days that left me tired when I got home.  I don't mind working overtime, especially it I can balance it out with sewing time in order to reflect and process on what the day might have brought.  Unfortunately I was tired enough that I didn't spend a lot of time in my sewing room, despite having a lot of projects on the go that I wanted to get to. Despite that I have finished up placemats made out of Dr. Seuss fabrics, all caught up on the blocks for Bloggers blockapalooza, started a new baby quilt using Wild Friends print from Robert Kaufman.  I finally was able to get the materials to finish the borders on my Sliced Coin quilt along, I hate it when I don't have enough in my stash but think I can make it work anyways.
I have been working hard to thin out the stash but must admit I could make about 10 HST lap size quilts from my .30 meter cuts.  Too much fabric, big ideas but so little sewing time.  I have yet to get to working on some of the UFO's in the closet, but eventually they will have to be dealt with. I wonder what incentive I could give myself to get them done?  Hmm, massage, or a pedicure or some more fabric?   How much needs to get done to get a treat?

End of Love Month

Wow. I cannot believe its the last day of February already. The month has gone so fast and I have barely made a dint in my spring cleaning.

I have been working on a lot of quilts trying to get them ready to go the long arm quilter, prepare for taxes and trying to scrap on a regular basis. I am going to have to watch I don't over do all those things or else its not going to be fun and seem more like work.

I finally took the time to download layouts to my scrapping site- it took the whole morning. I sure wish there was a faster way to do that downloading. It may have not taken so long if I would have been regular with my uploading but its such a joyless thing to do... Maybe I can task the DH to do it for me seeing as he likes computer time!
These photos are from the DH's collection. I seem to be needing to do other folks photos for a bit of a break from my own photos. I don't think that the DH knows that he will have to do a lot journalling when he gets back. It can be one of his new projects to start out his retirement!

December Already

Wow, I cannot believe that it is December all ready. And talk about busy. Actually I think the busy time started early this year, as if Remembrance Day was the starting gun for madness. Not a lot of time for posting. Just keeping my head above water trying to get daily chores done, work and tossing in a little scrapbooking and quilting as mental health breaks.

We had our Christmas party this past Friday downtown. I made some decorations that turned out pretty darn good if I do say so. I followed that up with attending the Military Police Mess Dinner and had way too much fun. What a great bunch of people. Took lots of pictures but I need to download them still. Have way too much to download and have to make time to do it in one sitting cause I find it so boring...

Happy Thanksgiving

Wow, what a week leading up to Thanksgiving. Not only was I on duty for the week, the husband is coming home and I have a baptism on Sunday. To make matters worse on my last day of duty, I was asked to preside over a funeral. So a lot on my plate for two weeks unfortunately. The worst of it is I picked up a sinus cold, so I sound like Snuffleugagus (?) from Sesame Street. I know I am dating myself cause I don't think that character is even on and now Sesame Street in Canada is called Sesame Park. Anyways gives the husband something to laugh about watching me trying to eat and breath with some difficulty cause I am all plugged up. But that Nati pot I saw on Dr Oz seems to be working.
Anyways despite all the busyness I was able to get out with the husband and drive up Island. We stopped at a gorgeous farmers market just outside of Duncan where there was a pile of pumpkins and I got some shots of him.

I also was able to get a great shot of two Scottish Terriers that were in a bike cart when I was at the mall. You got to admit its quite a sight. The owner told me that they cover over 50 km a week in their carrier and go all over the place. Me, I don't have the coordination to bike me all over the place let alone two dogs!
