The colors that I choose are from my favorite color site, Design Seeds, who posted a photo called Logged. As it was cold and I was wanting nothing more than to warm up in front of a fire it thought it was very appropriate.
This blog is the collision of my hobbies (scrapbooking & quilting) as well as my professional interests.

January Joy do. good stitches bee
For a number of years I have belonged to a quilt be that makes quilts for charitable causes. My bee group is call Joy and is made of Canadian quilters. This month was my turn to pick a pattern and colors and ask the ladies to make a block or two.

The block pattern is from the Fat Quarter Shop and was part of their Wishes quilt along. The pattern is called, Stair Step. This block is very simple to put together and will look great when combined together for a scrappy look.

A study of Brown
The last few weeks, it seems that the projects that I am working on are brown. Arlene, the long armer, has a theory that people buy and work more with brown in times of recession and go for bright colors when times pick up. Makes sense for me.
Anyways, I have a lot of brown scraps lying around from a few different projects that I am wanting to get rid of. I have to say that brown is a least favorite color for me, so its a bit of a struggle. I guess I can look for some neat patterns in brown to pep things up a bit, or even add another color what would make it sing, like orange. I think I will have to spend some time on Flickr looking for some inspiration before I tackle it though. Do I do something improv or something a bit more traditional? Oh the struggle of figuring out what to do when not inspired.
On a more inspiring note, I did finish another runner off, using a lovely set a Bali pre-cuts. Its humungous but looks very rich and dramatic. I think this will be another project that will be in the cupboard once it is done, waiting for a home. As I don't know anyone off the top of my head whom this should go to. Its name is Coconut Squares after the fabric line name from the manufacturer. The pattern for this quilt is from allpeoplequilt.com and called squares-strips table runner.
My next project to be done this weekend is a casserole carried and laundry bag. I think I can get these two things done before Monday morning!

Honeymoon Part Deux
Well Craig has been home over a month now. We have gotten settled in the house, kinda of. With the help of a storage facility we have gotten stuff tucked away. We still have to do that are we keeping yours or mine with kitchenware and other household stuff. Who would have thought that we can accumulate so much stuff. If there was a way to have a garage sale with out having to do all the work, I could be there in a flash with out stuff, let me tell you.
I have been quilting like crazy. Like an artist I have been going through a Brown phase which I quickly balanced out with three really wild quilts with hot pink, purple and yellow. Talk about knock your eye lashes off - they are that bright. I can't wait to see what Arlene my long arm quilter extraordinaire will come up with!
Haven't been able to do much scrapping lately, work and having the desk being used by the DH kind of cuts into fun time, but I was able to do 2 layouts last week which is a nice start after not doing anything for a month or so.
