A month ago we put out the food for the hummers and lo and behold they drank their way through the small feeders like a regiment who had been in theater for a month. Pigs, all of them.
Needless to say my kitchen counters have been covered in sugar as the husband makes large amount of syrup for them. He also bought two more large feeders that hold about 3 cups of syrup which add to make a total of 4 feeders in our back yard alone. They are drinking these larger ones just as fast. Craig will have to start making milk jugs (4 ltrs) of food for them just to keep ahead.
At last count we have at least 10. They zoom back and forth, chittering at each other and fighting when someone comes up to the feeder they want. Craig was putting the the new feeder and one zoomed in under his chin. Pretty nervy huh. At least they are some entertainment to watch when I get home from work.
