Happy Belated Halloween

Okay Belated wishes seeing as it is now 2 Nov.  Perhaps I should wish you Happy All Souls/Saints Day instead? Not quite as commercial or as well known but a day to remember those souls who have passed away.

It was a low key Halloween for me as I spend the afternoon at the Drs and since I was in Ottawa I checked out the new Tangers outlet mall.  I got a few new pieces of gym clothes to replace some that have worn out and are sagging in all the wrong places.
But I did dress up for Halloween. I wore by naval combats and pulled out a pirate tricorn hat to wear indoors when not wearing my beret.  And my other sailor friend PO D10 dressed up to so we could be everyone’s favorite Seamen!

Halloween Runner

I am ashamed to say that I began this runner last year.  I had a handful of orange fabrics from another project that I wanted to use up and this is a result.  The pattern is from a book called My Runners by Disa Designs which I got from Connecting Threads during one of their book sales.

 My Runners

The runners are easy to make  and look very attractive on any table.  They are also great gifts for just about any situation. Anyways I finally almost a year later finished off this quilted runner. Here is the photo off it before I quilted it. I forgot to take a photo of the finished product, LOL.

Quiet Weekend

It has been for me a long weekend during which I got sick.  Yup.  Wouldn't you know it and I had big plans for the time as well before the DH started back to work.  Hopefully all the extra sleep I have gotten and chicken soup and lots of liquids will do the trick and I will be back to normal, albeit with a red nose on Tuesday.
I was able to spend a little bit of time at the sewing machine ( without falling asleep and stitching off my finger) to work on a few projects.  The Halloween Top is done and quilted, just a small hanging that I am taking into work.  I have yet to take a photo cause I have lost the light for the day unfortunately.  I made a second set of place mats using Sew Mama Sew's Color block place mats.   These will be going off to the quilter to be done, unless I want to try out a new free motion technique.  Some days I love doing the quilting on pieces and other times its just a chore.  We'll have to play this one by ear.

Bug eyed with creativity

This weekend I have been on a creative binge. First it was making some Halloween treats for my Sunday school kids. Irony is I think their fathers like them more than the kids. Very strange...

Then I have been working on the Pencil lines online crop. I finished last night this sweet little card layout that could work well for our Christmas cards this year. And I finally got time to load up some other work to my gallery. That seems to be a chore for me, loading stuff to the gallery, but I guess it all can't be fun.

This photo below was giving to me during the summer and I finally got around to completing it. I really like how it turned out and how well the Sassafrass Lass papers worked on the layout.
