When In Victoria

Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort & Spa

My dear husband treated me to a night stay at the Delta Ocean Pointe when I arrived home.  Not only that he threw in supper and a pedicure too.

I must say my tender tootsies needed some TLC.  Afterwards we went back to the room and sat in front of the window, watching the water, boats and people.  Strangely enough as we were looking out the window, we saw a man laying on the concrete pathway outside the hotel.  Lots of people went by him, ignoring him, not stopping to see if he was okay.  After watching the downed man for a few minutes we noticed that he was not moving and no one seemed to be concerned about him other than us. Since hubby and I both are first aid qualified we decided to check things out. So the hubby goes out to him dressed in his dress pants, and pedicure flip flops, ruining the spa ladies hard work on his feet. It was kind of cute actually.

I found this whole event very disconcerting. At least a dozen people walked by this guy, laying on the pavement.  He was no where near a bench, the view from his angle was non existent. If one paused a moment you would see he was not moving.  You have to wonder if anything was to happen to yourself would someone respond to your need?  Its kind of sad how desensitized and self centered we have become that we can walk by an injured person laying on the ground.

On another note, if you happen to be in Victoria, stop by the Delta for a Crouching Tiger or Jean Luc and watch the water taxi's zoom back and forth.
