Space Age Baby Quilt

This quilt was sewn back when the weather was cold and snowy. I finally had time to stitch on the binding and put this one to rest. Turned out pretty good I think. I really like how effective this pattern is.  If I recall the pattern is from Stitchery Dickory Dock.  The quilting is done in a light blue thread that has stars and and swirls - something that is to remind you of zooming through space on your own space ship as the fabric indicates.

Happy Day Baby Quilt

One of my local quilt stores bought in a new line of fabric that just screamed summer days and bright flowers.  Of course I had to get some.  I knew right away that I wanted to make a baby quilt using this material and added a few others in for good measure.

The pattern that I used was inspired by a quilt that I saw on Red Pepper quilts blog.  It was so sweet and simple that I just had to show my flattery and copy it.  If you want to make your own cut 2.5 inch strips to about 9 inches and arrange in a manner pleasing to you. Join them up, trim them down and quilt them.

Wham, Pow!

I picked up at the Cloth Castle in January, a panel that made a lovely baby quilt.  I used the manufacturers pattern and am pleased with it.

 I took it of course to Arlene and she did her thing, adding stars and swirls in a lovely variegated orange thread.   I have so long been wanting to use that variegated orange thread...

 

And I added the flame binding, giving the quilt a bit of an edge.  I just love it.  And so does the person who received it for her soon to be born baby boy.
